It’s a special occasion and you want to remind a friend or family member that you remembered them for this day, so you send them a greeting card. You acknowledge a birthday, anniversary, graduation, promotion and many other events with congratulatory sentiments. You select the one that expresses your sentiments or makes the person laugh and then you mail it. That could be simple and uncomplicated if it’s a regular sized envelope, but what if it is unusually large, small or shaped oddly. Either way, the greeting card envelope size must accommodate the cards.
Envelopes are frequently in the A2, A6 or A7 size range. Essentially, A2 is 4 3/8 x 5 ¾ inches, A6 is 4 ¾ x 6 ½ and the A7 is 5 ¼ x 7 1/4. Many more sizes exist. Greeting cards can be very small and abnormally large. The smaller sizes are 2 ½ x 4 ¼, gift card envelopes are 2 5/8 x 3 5/8 and the 4 Bar size is 3 5/8 x 5 1/8. The larger sized envelopes could fit a booklet inside with envelope measurements of 6 x 9 inches. The A8 measures 5 ½ x 8 ½ inches and the outer #7 is sized 5 ½ x 7 ½. The #10 is often used to give long narrow cards. The #10 measurements are 4 1/8 x 9 ½ inches.
Greeting, money and gift cards are frequently given as an expression of celebration for an event. We like to present gifts/cards in a nice wrapping or envelope. Using the correct size makes the card presentation nicer. The color coordinated envelopes with angled flaps or straight flaps in the correct size help dress up self-printed cards, finishing the presentation expertly. Whether the card is store bought or self- printed, paying close attention to the greeting card envelope size ensures that the recipient will get a congratulatory gesture that is nicely presented.
