The Visa Card Number
In most, if not all Visa cards, the Visa card numbers are 16-digit long numeric characters, usually grouped in to four. Several articles are written about how these numbers are derived, some offering explanation to praise the science behind it. A generic anatomy for any credit card number is as follows.
The first six digits are the issuer’s identifier. The next nine digits form the account number, and the last digit is the check digit. In all, these constitute the 16-digit card number. Note that this is the typical length, so some card providers offer their own length or kind of numbering.

When purchasing online using a credit card, a debit card, or a gift card, you always need your card number and other validation such as the expiration date and other numbers in it. This is also true for Visa cards. You will need your Visa card number in making purchases.

From the perspective of a gift card holder, a credit card holder or a cardholder in general, it’s always recommended to protect your card at all times. Note that if your Visa card or any card for that matter is exposed, you will definitely be the target of such thieves / lawbreakers.
